Threebrook Interpret License Agreement

This agreement is between you and Threebrook ("we") and covers Threebrook Interpret ("the software"). By installing or using the software, you confirm that you have read and agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't install or use it. 1. License · The software is free. You may install and use it on your own computers, and you may share the unmodified installer or portable version with others free of charge. · You may not sell the software or distribute it for a fee, and you may not modify or remove its copyright and license notices. · We own the copyright in the software and reserve all rights not expressly granted here. Your license ends automatically if you break this agreement. 2. Translated content and your data · The software doesn't collect or upload any usage data and doesn't check for updates automatically. Installing and uninstalling never connect to the internet. · Text is sent out only when you use an online translation engine (such as Bing, Yandex, DeepL, Baidu, Youdao, Tencent or Microsoft Azure). It then goes to that provider and is subject to its terms of service and privacy policy. For confidential content, use a local language model or the offline features only. · Screenshot text recognition runs on your computer using the component built into Windows. Screenshots themselves are never sent anywhere. · Settings, the glossary, clipboard history and diagnostic logs are stored on your computer (the installed version uses %AppData%\ThreebrookInterpret; the portable version uses the data folder next to the program). Diagnostic logs don't record any text content. · Clipboard history keeps the text and images you copy. Content marked as excluded from history, for example by password managers, is skipped. You can turn history off in Settings. · API keys are encrypted with Windows Data Protection, so only the current user on the current computer can read them. If you copy the portable version to another computer, you'll need to enter them again. 3. Third-party services and components · The names and trademarks of translation services belong to their owners. The software isn't affiliated with them. · The free engines (Bing, Yandex) use interfaces from those providers' websites or apps, which may change or stop working at any time. For engines that need an API key, your account, quota and any charges are between you and the provider. · The fonts embedded in the software are released under their own licenses (SIL Open Font License 1.1, Apache License 2.0). The full license texts are in the licenses folder next to the program. 4. Disclaimer (please read carefully) · The software is provided free of charge and "as is". To the maximum extent permitted by law, we make no warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. · Machine translation and text recognition can make mistakes. Check the results yourself before relying on them for contracts, medical, legal or other important matters. · To the maximum extent permitted by law, we aren't liable for any direct or indirect loss arising from the use of, or inability to use, the software. This includes lost data, the consequences of translation errors and charges from third-party services. Liability that can't be excluded by law is not affected. 5. Other · When uninstalling the installed version, you can choose to keep or delete your settings and history. To remove the portable version, delete its whole folder. · This agreement may be updated with new versions of the software.
